Talent Bank

The effective way to recruit and train your workforce
One of the key aims of the National Skills Academy for Power is to raise the awareness of the Power Sector as a career option, aiming to increase the size and diversity of the recruitment pool. However, some employers face further barriers to recruiting and retaining the best trainees and their new entrants. A break through initiative that will assist with this is called Talent Bank.

Assisting Power Employers
Talent Bank will assist Power employers with the recruitment of learners into specific roles where employers have hard to fill vacancies or have a need for a more collaborative approach. It will support groups of employers wishing to collaboratively invest in the recruitment of trainees on a local level managing contractual and financial arrangements – in effect creating a group purchasing service, whilst reducing risk for individual companies.

Talent Bank Initiative
Talent Bank is an initiative that is funded by the Growth and Innovation Fund (GIF) and the Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) Group has received £364k to set up the infrastructure and systems required to support our industries in increasing investment in training – particularly new entrants – ranging from Apprentices to Graduates. Under the umbrella of our successful Think Power campaign, Talent Bank will also be able to manage recruitment processes for employers, including shortlisting and the running of interviews and assessment centres.

Furthermore, and in addition to the on-line tools developed by the Skills Academy to aid learners’ experiences, Talent Bank can assign Learner Managers to trainees, managing all aspects of their learning, development and work placements to ensure a high quality experience where employers do not have sufficient resource to offer this independently.

In addition to supporting you in the selection of a Quality Approved Education and Skills Provider, Talent Bank can also raise and manage delivery contracts on your behalf, again providing a much needed resource for many organisations.

An employment service is also offered for those employers who have the budget for trainees, but not the headcount flexibility. Keeping new recruits on Talent Bank’s headcount for the duration of their training can provide a viable solution for individual employers seeking to collaborate with others to increase the talent pool in their area. Whilst salary and on-costs are covered by participating employers, Talent Bank will draw down funding wherever possible to off-set the direct costs to employers.
