Transmission & Distribution Network

The goal of the Transmission & Distribution Network is to develop a shared understanding of the skills needs of the sector and represent these together with suggested solutions to the Strategic Steering Group (SSG).

The skills strategy for the Transmission & Distribution sector has been fairly well defined for a number of years, however this latest review by the Transmission & Distribution Network has resulted in a slight change of priority, placing greater focus on development and delivery of higher skills.

Developments in technology to deliver the demands of a low carbon economy, the introduction of the new price control frameworks (RIIO) and the extensive delivery requirements of the smart metering programme have impacted on the workforce planning assumptions so a refresh of Transmission & Distribution data is now a priority activity.
