E.ON wins Renewable Energy Health & Safety Award

02 February 2012

RenewableUK and the Crown Estate have awarded E.ON the first ever Renewable Energy Health & Safety Award.

The accolade is in recognition of the company’s health and safety performance at its shallow gas case study on the Rampion offshore project, RenewableUK said.

E.ON demonstrated clear leadership in its decision-making by being willing to challenge industry norms, according to the association.

RenewableUK chief executive Maria McCaffery said she hopes the award will deliver the highest health and safety standards to an emerging renewables sector.

Crown Estate wind development programme manager Alastair Dutton said: “This award recognises the important work that companies and individuals are taking to promote and execute a high standard of health and safety. Sharing good practice is essential to deliver the Government’s offshore renewable energy aspirations.”

The judging panel also felt Mainstream Renewables should be commended for its innovation and willingness to push forward best practice at its Hornsea Met Mast project.
